His Worn Blue Coat

Words and Music by Ben Scott (c) 2011

A Mount Isa Miner Died Aged 94
His big old miners hands have waved and gone
But his shuffling footsteps linger still
Through the quiet house and yard she heard them fall

He tied up every wick before he went
And set his escape with utmost care
So his lamp could splutter to its end when it will
It won't be said he left a burden to bear

Chorus:
A Mount Isa Miner Died Aged 94
Hi big old miner's hands have waved and gone
But his shuffling footsteps linger still
Through the quiet house and yard she heard them fall

And the family came to sit by his hospital bed
Where he sat hands resting on bony knees
And she stayed each day to sit and quietly talk
Till he said 'seeya Toots, don't go fussing over me'

Chorus
